Privacy Policy
This explains what personal information Lewis Excavator Hire collects, why, and what you can do about it — in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
1. What We Collect
When you make an enquiry or booking (online, by phone, or in person), we collect:

- —Email address
- —Phone number
- —Delivery/site address
- —Any details you give us about the hire (equipment, dates, job notes)
2. Why We Collect It
We use this information to:
- —Process and confirm your hire enquiry or booking
- —Contact you about equipment availability, delivery, or pickup
- —Take payment where you choose to pay online
- —Keep a record of past hires for invoicing and warranty/insurance purposes
- —Recognise you as a returning customer so we don't ask for the same details twice
3. Where Your Information Comes From
Most of what we hold comes directly from you — through the booking form on this site, or from a phone/in-person conversation with our staff. A small number of existing business contacts were also added from our own records (e.g. past customers on file with our accounting system) rather than entered fresh through the site. If you're on our customer list and would like to know what we hold about you or have it corrected or removed, see Section 7 below.
4. Who We Share It With
We don't sell or rent your information. We do share it with:
- —Stripe, our payment processor, if you pay online — they receive what's needed to process the payment; we don't store your card details ourselves
- —Our email provider, to send booking confirmations and internal alerts
5. How It's Stored
Your information is stored in a hosted database (Neon, on infrastructure in line with Vercel's hosting terms) and is accessible only to authorised staff through a password-protected admin system.
6. How Long We Keep It
We keep booking and customer records for as long as you remain a customer or potential customer, and as needed to meet our tax and accounting obligations. If you ask us to delete your details and you have no ongoing or recent hire with us, we will.

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of these, contact us:
